The Operoo system was designed and developed by the CareMonkey company in Melbourne, Australia. Up until 2020, the Operoo product was known as CareMonkey. CareMonkey entered the market in October 2013 as a platform to automatically keep medical and emergency contact details up to date for schools. The product quickly gained acceptance in the education marketplace and very soon thereafter was adopted by other groups. Scouts, sports clubs, choirs, community and church groups, camps, businesses, disability service providers and other groups all used CareMonkey to automate the process of managing information that was necessary for them to deliver on their duty of care obligations.
